The Daily Daily: Politics Matter

Saying that “you don’t care about politics” is like me saying that “I don’t care about football.”  However, when I say that I don’t care about a sport, my inability to connect to the emotional tossing and turning of a sports team doesn’t matter to other people.  I can live my entire life and the fact that I barely know what a touchdown is won’t matter. But, when someone says they don’t care about politics, you are basically saying you don’t care how society works.  This system we’ve set up is tangible, delicate and needs constant maintenance.  If you pay taxes and drive down roads, you’ve been directly affected by our political system.  And when people say that Presidential elections don’t matter, I used to agree with you.  But, after three years of Obama doing everything I could ever want and many things I don’t want, it is clear to me that elections, ALL ELECTIONS, matter and that, by judging a person’s involvement in politics, you  have an accurate gauge of a person’s maturity level.  Preaching over.  Newt Gingrich won the South Carolina Republican Primary. Either you know what that is or you don’t.  Here is a link about how it happened.  Here is a link about why it happened.  Here is a link about what should happen now.  Also, this Tuesday is the President’s State of the Union Address.  He’ll probably talk about this.  Then, his opponents will call him a Socialist.  Copy and paste for the next 9 and a half months.  Happy Monday.
