The Daily Daily: Arizona’s Gun laws.

Guns don’t kill people.  People kill people with guns.  I’m not what you think I am.  I think people should have the right to arm themselves.  I absolutely believe that.  However, people who can’t see shouldn’t drive.  People with emotional issues and a tendancy to go nuts and start shooting people shouldn’t own a fire arm.  Pro-gun people think we should all be armed so that, when the crazy person does start shooting, we can, you know, start shooting back.  This is a stupid idea thought up by stupid people.  Or crazy people.  Which is about the same. From the Arizona paper, the State Column:

It still remains unclear exactly what prompted the lone gunman to attempt his assassination of Ms. Giffords, but the state which Ms. Giffords represented is receiving international criticism over its gun rights laws. The alleged shooter, who was charged with a string of federal charges on Sunday, has a criminal record dating back to 2007. He was arrested in 2007 for possessing drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor charge, before posting ramblings on Youtube. Yet he was still able to buy a semi-automatic 9mm gun legally in Tucson, Arizona, following a background check. The reality comes nearly one year after state lawmakers passed a controversial law allowing residents over the age of 21 to carry a concealed weapon.

I don’t expect anyone to agree with me.  I never do.  But we don’t need to have a serious talk about what we say.  We need to have a serious talk about guns.  Do we need them and why anyone with a silly idea and some cash can go buy one.  Innocent people are being killed.  Don’t tell me that we are angry as a country.  We aren’t.  But, if we don’t start re-thinking gun ownership, we are going to continually be stupid as a country.
