The Books: George Orwell’s 1984

Looking right at you..

Looking right at you..

I love this book.  There are some books that give and give and give, that teach and you learn from in every sentence.  But it is a horror book, it is a thriller.  It scares me that we have touched some things that the book has talked about all ready, as well as the sobering tone of the author. The ending should freak you out, because all of us just want to give up to our fears, don’t we? I’m not saying that the world is turning this way.  I doubt very seriously that we will have cameras watching us all the time, or that people will be judging us based on what we think.  Or that…uh, wait.  Never mind. Here’s a sample:

“It was curious to think that the sky was the same for everybody, in Eurasia or Eastasia as well as here. And the people under the sky were also very much the same—everywhere, all over the world, hundreds or thousands of millions of people just like this, people ignorant of one another’s existence, held apart by walls of hatred and lies, and yet almost exactly the same—people who had never learned to think but were storing up in their hearts and bellies and muscles the power that would one day overturn the world.”
