Election 2000-Ugh: McCain’s Dark side…

An interesting video about McCain’s anger-management issues.  I heard that he once jumped up in the air and pulled down an airplane because it was too loud.  Or was that Chuck Norris?  Eh, same thing.

Life in the DC Suburbs: First Amendment? What’s that?

Yeah, so, be very careful who you talk to, what you do when you talk to them, and what you are wearing.  Chances are, the government might shoot you in the face arrest you.  Just to be on the safe side.  From Wired...

Maryland State police placed the names of 53 left-leaning political activists into federal and state databases, labeling them as terrorists, the state’s police chief admitted Tuesday. Evidence that the state police had been infiltrating anti-war and anti-death penalty groups first came to light in July following a government sunshine lawsuit filed by the ACLU on behalf of a prominent peace activist named Max Obuszewski. Police added Obuszewski and others to a federal database called the Washington-Baltimore High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area database, The nation’s main terrorist watch list is built from nominations from federal databases, but Maryland’s current police superintendent told Maryland lawmakers that he didn’t think the activists made their way onto that list, according to the Washington Post. The Maryland spying on peace groups took place in 2005 and 2006, under the leadership of then-police superintendent Thomas Hutchins.

“I don’t believe the First Amendment is any guarantee to those who wish to disrupt the government,” he said. …

Thanks for clearing that up for us….

The Games: Halo 3 Recon

Let’s forget for the moment that Halo 3 came out last year.  Let’s forget that “Recon” usually is attached to Ghost Recon games, and that any other type of usage of the term “Recon” might cause a fight amoung the nerd gamer hardcore crowd.  Bungie’s newest endeaver will be the oft-mentioned but highly doubted Recon expansion.  Gamers will be playing as a ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper) and trying to survive doing the destruction of a major city during Halo 2.  So, to be fair, this is more like Halo 2 Recon than Halo 3.  Just to be clear on that.  From all reports, Recon will have all the good stuff of Halo 3, just with less Master Chief.  The buying power of Halo fans can never be unstated.  What I’m curious about are the changes in gameplay, cover-usage, weapons, and the expansion of thy mythos.  Also, this is a perfect time to offer this as a digital download.  If Recon uses the Halo 3 engine, isn’t it possible to just download the game and then run the Halo 3 disk?  More and more, Halo 3 is looking like a prolonged inhabitant of my 360 gaming cabinet… (Thanks X3f!)

Election 2000-Ugh: You’re All Right, Mrs. Obama…

I haven’t really had the chance to connect to Obama’s better half.  But Mrs. Obama talking on Larry King Live blew my mind, impressed me, and knocked it out the park.

When asked if McCain’s reference to Obama as “that one” was offensive, Michelle Obama simply said “no,” adding that this issue has nothing to do with what’s affecting average Americans hurting from the economic downturn.

“I think there are two conversations that have been going on throughout this whole election. There’s the conversation that’s been happening with the pundits … and then there’s the conversation that’s been happening on the ground,” she said.

She said that Americans “right now are scared” and “nervous about the economy.”

“They don’t care about the back and forth between the candidates … They want real answers about how we’re going to fix this economy and get the health care benefits on track so, you know, this is part of politics,” she added.

You’re all right, Mrs. O.  You’re all right.

The Debates!

You guys know how I feel.  I sort of like this YouTube vid.  It doesn’t have all the spin of the other networks.  Also, I don’t have to see McCain smirking.  I sort of hate McCain.  And his wife, too.  She looks like a T-1000 Terminator.
